Laksa Homemade Edition

What a fruitful Sunday. Went for breakfast with siblings and had a very good rest and relax at home for the rest of the day. My brother decided to cook laksa for dinner which he had planned for long time ago, I bought laksa paste (double swallow brand), coconut powder and vermicelli last night, went to buy some chicken breast meat and bean sprout this morning for the preparation of homemade laksa.

When I wake up after a nap in the afternoon, my brother had already prepared half of the ingredients.

The laksa gravy...
The vermicelli...
Steamed Shrimp (brought all the way from Bintangor).
Bean SproutThe outcome...
Yummy!!! I got gastric pain after that because of the coconut power. I love laksa but I just can't take much. I had taste laksa cook with milk but not so delicious compare with coconut. What should I do? Any suggestion?

Long lost taste

Went to Shalom Cafe last night just for a try since people talking about Bintangor Rojak is in Kuching! The cafe itself is located at GreenHeight area, near GreenHeight Mall. It only start operate at 5pm daily till midnight. My colleague was telling that the shop was no longer operated after few months since opened but I found it from one of the owner's relative that it still alive but only operate at night time. It's the only shop where you can taste Bintangor Rojak that you can find in Kuching because the owner is originate from Bintangor too, and the old owner still making their famous rojak in Bintangor Town currently. To taste if it's the same, so I went there for a try.
I ordered ...peanut soup @RM2.50 (peanut, bali, sago, and...served hot or chill but chill better).
Closer look... tidak berapa sama le (my sister said not really the same). The peanut a bit too hard, not much ingredients found inside the bowl compare to yummy peanut soup in Bintangor.
ABC Special @ RM2.50...Hui Sing one is better.
Spicy Taiwan Sausage @ RM2.50 (for me, local hot dog taste better).
Haha...Rojak! The 1 person serving cost RM3.00 so we ordered RM5.00 for 3. How? Of course Bintangor one is better lar but if you really miss Bintangor Rojak, no harm to eat la~ Bintangor Rojak is different than Kuching Rojak. I don't like Kuching Rojak because the sauce is a bit fishy for me. The belacan and shrimp paste are in there I knew.
Hmmp...I am wonder what's in the Bintangor Rojak Sauce, I mean the ingredients...anyone?

Dim Sum on Labour Day

Since it's Labour Day on 1st of May, I decided to trigger my excitability to fill my day with doing something that is more meaningful for holiday. I went to nearby market a get myself a copy of newspaper, looking if there is anything on sales to stock up my grocery at home.

Well, no help even got sales because haven't get my salary yet. Then I found this from the classified page.
The promotion only start from 24th April to 3 May. I saw "Eat ALL You Can" at RM10 per person, so I called up few buddies to explore the place. Shanghai Renjia Cafe, it's located to the next building block of The Tarrot Cafe, same building as new opened Bing Cafe at Jalan Keretapi.
We walked in and it's partly full, luckily we spotted an unclean table so just sit in, no numbering system, grab your seat while you can. Waiting for the cleaner clean up the table and we start to EAT!

The cashier and drinks counter. The kitchen is just behind the glass door.
The food line. It's only 10 types of food...a bit dissapointed.
One part of wall deco in it.
Menu on top.
Our table...
First round...Fried Dumpling, 2 types of fried buns.
One of the fried bun in ball.
Steamed bun with butter filling (recommended).
Fried Dumpling.
The filling of fried dumpling.
Nothing special of the fried vermicelli. They also served fried rice and fried mee, the fried mee is yummy tho...
Second round...
Pan Fried Dumpling.
Never forget the sauce while you eat the dumpling...
Pan fried small dragon bun...
The filling of the bun...more vege.
Congee. Not bad tho...but a bit too cheap to eat with paying RM10 le~
Sweet and sour vege. Too sweet for me.
Oh...did I mentioned what drink I ordered? I ordered chinese tea but they served me this. I was worry if they charge me more than RM5 for this pot but it's cost only RM3.50.
Mind you...total damage for the meal for 5 serving were RM50 (RM10 each), drinks cost RM13.50 including my previous drink. So all and all cost RM 63.50. I heard that some people just left after eat, so uncivilized! Well, sorry to say, the system was a bit messy too, too many walked in diners. Some of the walk-in diner even rejected by the owner with the excuse "the foods not complete" at around 10:30am but it stated in the advertisement that serving start from 8:30am till 2pm. *head shaking*

Haha...that's my so called excitability for the day! Too much flour input...Burp!
