After 13 long years, Sarawak has once again been picked to host the national level Merdeka Day celebrations this year. The 49th National Day celebrations will be held in Kuching. Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu on Tuesday said a special programme had been drawn up for the occasion, the highlight of which would be a parade at Padang Merdeka in the city on August 31. About 6,000 members of various organisations and agencies would participate in the parade which would be witnessed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid and other dignitaries, he said after chairing a meeting of the organising committee for the event. Jabu said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi would launch Merdeka Eve celebrations on the night of Aug 30 at Tebingan Kuching here where various events would be showcased.

View from KWSP Building, Kuching

A very nice weather on Monday morning and nice view from KWSP building, Kuching. I went to KWSP Building on the morning due to some office matter related to Labour Department, and I managed to take few shots with my LG 970 Shine handphone of the view outside the window while waiting in the waiting room. Well, if my Sony T300 can be such slim and small to carry around like my handphone, I will have a better shot on this photos.

*I didn't know that SAINS office buuidling is just so near.

HIJAU @ BDC

If you go along the road from BDC flyover / Kenyalang Interchange to BDC direction, you should be able to see the sign board of "HIJAU" on your left hand side from the roadside. Hijau is just located at BDC area. The atmosphere there can be described as unique. It can't be categorized as just normal coffee shop or cafe either because it neither ordinary coffee shop nor cafe, what we should call huh? "Kopife"?

I went there for dinner with family last Saturday and I found that the surround ambience was really comfortable with the movable air and LG plasma TV on wall! It was packed with people on that night though. The interior design is quite unique. There are many food stalls over that place, there are variety of foods to choose such as seafood, beef noodle, chicken wings, satay stalls and many more. A mini fountain was found at there and gardening thingy were found too, seems like they are doing some business related to landscaping or gardening.

Well... to start the ordering, there come the drinks first.
*Teh C Peng, Wheatgrass Lemon, Wheatgrass C, and Barley Peng

Here come the foods...I ordered a plate of Nasi Lemak, the other three companion ordered Nasi Briyani Ayam (Large), Beef Noodle, and Corn Beef Roti Canai.
*Nasi Lemak = RM3.00
*Beef Noodle = RM4.00
*Nasi Briyani Ayam (Large) = RM7.70
*Corn Beef Roti Canai = RM3.00
The foods was ok, not bad and not too luxury. The total damage for the foods = RM17.70. Can't remember for the total damage of drinks though because I am not the one who pay for it. :-P

The price of the foods and drinks are affortable and slidely similar if compare with those coffee shop out there. It’s not easy to look for a car park and table to sit because it’s always packed, so come early to grab your table.

It’s a very good place that you can hang out with your friends though, having some beers moment with your friends there. Folks! If you want to have a place to chill, or dinner. They serve softdrinks, hot and cold drinks, and have roti canai, murtabak, beef noodle, mee jawa, satay, nasi goreng kampung and curry rice, and etc. I am not sure if it's Halal place, can someone tell? This is it...HIJAU @ BDC!

Hair Cut

I got my hair cut yesterday on Sunday. Normally I will have my hair cut once a month so I gonna find a saloon that is cheap and suit my taste and I found this. Leo Image QC Unisex Hair Design at Green Road, Kuching.
Something that attract me in the early visit was the way he clean up after hair cut. This hair dresser very concern about your hair. He will try his best to advice you for the best hair style to suit you and the best way to keep your hair. His name is Leo. I went there for several time since early this year. Somebody was introduced me to tried it out and it cost RM8 only per hair cut during their promotion and I found that it just so so at first but slowly he pick up my hair style and yeah...he win my heart...for my hair style la.
*Leo professional look
Leo using trimming cutting style to get your hair done and I like the way it look after cut because it look a little bit untidy and i like the style. He didn't wet your hair before shorten your hair and even finish, he only blow your head and use the same cloth as per others, yeah...blow and clean only. You might felt a bit not comfortable at first but that's his style. Any stylish design he can do.
*this is it
*the photo that I took from this angle didn't really show my hair style. Poor photograph.
Normal hair cut cost only less than RM15, and mine yesterday cost only RM12. Don't worry...they have air-con and good sound system to make your bored away. They are doing something new now, promoting by giving customer their VIP member card with Rm1 only. The purpose for doing this is because they want their customer to have the same price everytime they make a visit. Due to increasing price of goods and fuel which is unpredicted in the future, this is a very good offer. RM1 per VIP card and this offer only valid on next year.
*My RM 1 VIP card
The VIP card only valid for the card holder. If you are out of idea of how to make yourself look different for your next hair style, let LEO design a stylish hair style that suit you. If you have problem with your hair or dandruff problem, don't hesitate to get advise from him. He is more than kind to help you. :-)

Chief Mike new dinner set

This time, Chef Mike going to take another challenge from people in the house. He never cook chicken feet before and it's time for him to take this honorable challenge. He prepared his ingredients since morning, he needs to go to wet market and get the chicken feet and the gizzard for his soy sauce with chicken feet and gizzard. And there you go for the dinner set of the night.

Three main dishes. From top to bottom: Potato leaves fried with garlic, soy sauce chicken feet and gizzard, okra or lady finger.
Soy sauce chicken feet and chicken gizzard, eggs and mushroom
Comment: Too watery, it should go with sticky sauce but the taste was good and the chicken feet and gizzard are soft enough to bite and chew.
Potato leaves (different with the tall potato leave that you normally see, it look short and will not having potato underneath the soil)
Comment: Taste a little bit like uncook, maybe because of the wok too small with such portion.
Last but not least, okra or lady finger, my favorite.
Comment: A little bit sticky, because it can't be wet.
Overall, I give Chef Mike 80% for the taste of the foods. What will you cook for tonight Chef Mike?
